Viewing Server Folders in a Web Browser

You can use Python's built-in HTTP server to browse files and folders on a server interactively through a web browser. This is particularly useful for viewing files such as `.html` files directly in the browser.

Starting the HTTP Server

Navigate to the folder you want to browse and run:

python -m http.server 8080

Replace `8080` with any available 4-digit port number of your choice.

For example:

python -m http.server 8000

Once the server is running, leave the terminal session open.

Note: Make sure the port you choose is accessible from your local machine and is not already being used by another process.

Accessing the Files

On your local computer, open a web browser and navigate to:

http://ssh.abi.am:8000/

or:

http://comp0.genomic.abi.am:8000/

Replace `8000` with the port number you used when starting the HTTP server.

You will see a directory listing containing the files and folders in the directory where you started the HTTP server. You can click on folders to navigate into them and click on supported files to open them in the browser.

You can use your browser's Back button or:

Alt + Left Arrow

to return to the previous folder.
